I made the second picture in July 2023. It looked like forest fire or northern lights to me.
Little did I know that months later, I would be able to see northern lights aka aurora borealis from my window itself- first, on the night of 10th May 2024, and then again in August during the Perseid meteor shower. Hopefully there is more to come. The first time felt surreal.
By the way, I bought the domain of this website on the morning of 10th May.
I had come across a post saying northern lights would be visible in the UK. In the evening, I jokingly shared a video of the view outside my window with my friends abroad asking if they could see the northern lights and then adding “It’s okay, even I cannot see it. But can feel it.”
Minutes (?) later as I peeked outside for the 997th time, I noticed a green tinge in the sky. I had always wanted to see the green colour because it seems to be a rare colour in the sky- won’t see it during sunset or sunrise. Unsure if I was hallucinating, I grabbed my mobile phone to take some photos, just in case. As soon as I pointed the camera to the sky, the screen flashed bright green. My goodness! It was bit scary – camera capturing something which otherwise can’t be seen easily with naked eyes. Spooky! I snapped a few more pictures and messaged everyone I could think of in the UK so that they do not miss it. I was very happy. What a beautiful phenomenon!
I just really really wish I had my friends and family with me.

PS. Picture 1 was drawn to commemorate the event of 10th May. Picture 3 was drawn as an imaginative view with the Perseid meteor shower in the sky.
